NBISD has set the semester starting grade for Special Areas to an E for all students. Their grade may be moved down to an S, N, or U if they are not consistently demonstrating proficiency in the subject area TEKS.
E = Excellent (90%-100%) 1. The student consistently demonstrates mastery of the grade level TEKS. 2. The student participates in all activities to the best of his/her ability and puts forth maximum effort. 3. The student exhibits cooperative skills and their attitude does not interfere with their ability to participate or perform safely. 4. The student receives 90%-100% on all written work where appropriate.
S = Satisfactory (80%-89%) 1. The student frequently demonstrates mastery of the grade level TEKS. 2. The student participates in activities with satisfactory effort. 3. The student exhibits cooperative skills and their attitude may occasionally interfere with their ability to participate or perform safely. 4. The student receives 80%-89% on all written work where appropriate.
N = Needs Improvement; Occasionally Proficient on the TEKS (70%-79%) 1. The student occasionally demonstrates mastery of the grade level TEKS. 2. The student participates in activities and puts forth minimal effort. 3. The student needs improvement with cooperative skills, which affects their ability (and others’ ability) to participate, and/or the safety of others. 4. The student receives 70%-79% on all written work where appropriate.
U = Unsatisfactory; Seldom/Rarely Proficient on the TEKS (69% or less) 1. The student seldom or rarely demonstrates mastery of the grade level TEKS. 2. The student does not participate in all activities. 3. The student is uncooperative, which affects their ability (and others’ ability) to participate.
